Neighbors who live in or near the Lakeshore Estates subdivision in Slidell are hoping a civil court judge's decision will bring them some peace.
Their homes are near the site being used to demolish the old I-10 twin spans that were damaged by Hurricane Katrina. Contractors are breaking up the old bridge and using the chunks of concrete for coastal protection. The neighbors like the reuse of the material; they just don't think the demolition work should be done so close to their homes.
For more than a year, they've complained to the media and elected leaders. Tuesday a civil court judge took favor with their case. Now contractors will have 15 days to reduce the noise, vibration, and dust emanating from the demolition work.
